US twin baby sisters born holding hands

A couple of US twin sisters who were conceived holding hands were breathing on their own in the wake of being expelled from a ventilator, their mother has said.

Jillian and Jenna Thistlethwaite imparted an amniotic sac and placenta, an uncommon condition known as monoamniotic conception.

"They're now closest companions," said their mother, Sarah Thistlethwaite.

They were conceived on Friday in the US state of Ohio, getting a handle on one another's hands when specialists lifted them up for their guardians to see after conveyance.

Monoamniotic conception happens in one and only in 10,000 pregnancies.

Ms Thistlethwaite, 32, was observed for weeks at Akron General Medical Center in Akron, as monoamniotic twins are at danger from getting to be entrapped in one another's umbilical ropes.

She told the Akron Beacon Journal daily paper that holding her youngsters was "the best Mother's Day exhibit ever".

"I can't accept they were holding hands," she said. "That is stunning."
